Re: So what are you reading?
Body horror.
No thanks :D!

How she does it is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma-stuffed mystery. Or, y'know, a mystendrum.

man aint you ever seen The Fly body horror is the best horror
I recently picked up Audition from the library, I want to know the story that made the film so in/famous.
Finished the Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox...
Now I'm reading Nightlight, a Twilight Parody book.
1 chapter in, and I whole heartedly recommend it to all.
Here is the summary on the back.
About three things I was absolutely certain.
First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe.
Secondly, there was a vampire part of him - which I assumed was wildly out of control - that wanted me dead.
And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

I do believe I need that book. Now.
Currently reading Shogun, by James Clavell. I giggle every time Ishido opens his mouth and I am totally blaming Koei for that.
Planning on reading the Divine Comedy soon :D

I hear Justin Timberlake every time Ishido walks. I am totally blaming YouTube for that. I would link but it seems the video's gone. Sadness.

Youtube loves deleting things. But I would have loved to see that.
Been distracted by the Canterbury Tales. The fact that it distracted me enough from Divine Comedy and Shogun can't be good. Nor can be the fact that it's inspired me to write a full-out epic, multichaptered fanfic in verse.
So I got this book White As Bone, Red As Blood because it's set in Heian Japan and so very few books are set in that time period. It finally arrived today, and I'm reading the back cover, which includes an author bio:
Cerridwen Fallingstar, a shamanic Witch and Priestess, has taught classes in magic and ritual for over thirty years. Since childhood, she has had the ability to time-travel, entering alternate realms and distant times at will. She is a professional writer and psychic.
Really? Really? Fuck, why did I just give this woman my money.
I'm going to buy a copy right now. Might not read it, but she needs money much more than I do!
EDIT: you know she's lying because all time travelers are rich

Hahahahahahahahahah. XP;;; How did she ever get anything published??

It's published by Cauldron Press. All the signs were there of Author Douchebagery, but I just didn't pay attention.
Fallingstar? That's almost as bad as Silver Ravenwolf. :P I would have suggested the author blurb was a joke, but then I saw the name of the publishing company. Sorry to hear that, Stephy.
Something similar happened to me earlier this year, actually. I found a book in a used book store called Ravensong. On the back it says how this book has a little bit devoted to stories and folklore from around the world, but for the most part is something of a scientific writing of raven biology, behavior, etc. Basically a one-stop book of everything ravens for the raven lover. I buy the book, go home, and read the introduction and instantly regret buying it. The author starts yammering on about how she's an expert on ravens because she apparently harassed some Indians to get their fairytales about ravens. The entire introduction pretty much said: "this isn't world folklore and fairytale, it's just a shitton of First Nations stories that will have my douchey commentary sprinkled throughout, ruining the original stories. Also, there will be a tiny bit of science, but again, I will be interjecting my wannabe Witch views in between the facts that have been skewed to fit my personal view of the world."
Also.
Since childhood, she has had the ability to time-travel,...

In other news, I have finally started reading The Book of Jhereg by Steven Brust. I've just started the third chapter and it is freaking AMAZING so far.
I finished The Amulet of Samarkand. Really fun read, Bartimaeus is a great character. I kinda burned through it really quickly compared to The Lions of Al-Rassad, which I'm still on.
Has anyone read The Blade Itself?

I have not read it, but I am always hearing excellent things about it.
Glad to hear your like Bartimaeus! Haven't read the rest of the books in that series but mean to sometime.
Bartimaeus~! That was a great trilogy, although the ending both pissed me off and had me thinking it was a fitting end.
Just picked up the first three books of Temeraire, and by Primus, I simply can't put it down--which hasn't happened to me since I read the Good Earth last year.
I finally finished reading The Spirit Lens by Carol Berg. :\ It was only good, instead of being amazingly awesomely spectacular like everything else by her. Well, now I'm free to read something else, finally! I wonder what I should read.
50 something tabs of fanfic notwithstanding, I have somehow managed to get myself into Code Geass Nightmare of Nunally.
MAO....just....MAO.
(Also: POKEMON SPECIAL 8D)

I always wondered if that book had anything to do with the Invisible Man song by Queen.
The Great Gatsby was an awesome read. Such a downer ending, though :(

Not quite near the end, apparantly! Reign of Terror. Awesome.

Reading forums and the like, I feel as though I'm the only person in the world who didn't violently hate Wizard and Glass. (from the Dark Tower) I guess it'd be frustrating if that was the last book you got in the series for years and years...

I'm finishing up this series. Did you ever read it? I've really liked it. Might even say I loved it, depending on how it ends.
